Tucktale in ChatGPT
Tucktale Bedtime Stories is a ChatGPT plugin for parents and caregivers. You set up a bedtime story series once; each night ChatGPT writes the next episode, and Tucktale remembers the story so far, reads the episode aloud and keeps it ready to play.

What you can ask
- “Set up a Tucktale bedtime series about my son's toy dinosaur, Rumble, who lives in a sleepy forest. Ages 3-4, short episodes, about sharing.”
- “Tonight's Tucktale episode, please.”
- “Make tonight's Tucktale episode a bit calmer and shorter.”
- “Show me my Tucktale series and the listening link.”
How to use it
- Add Tucktale to ChatGPT. In ChatGPT, open Plugins, search for Tucktale Bedtime Stories and add it. Or mention Tucktale in a chat and allow it when ChatGPT asks.
- Set up your series. Describe the main characters (toys, animals or made-up friends), where the stories happen, one to three values, the listener's age band and how long an episode should be. Tucktale saves it and shows the series card.
- Ask for tonight's episode. Say “Tonight's Tucktale episode”. ChatGPT asks Tucktale for the story so far and the bedtime rules, writes the next episode and saves it. The card shows the story.
- Press play. Tucktale reads the episode aloud on its own server; the player in the card is ready in a minute or two. The same episode is on your private listening link and podcast feed.
- Keep the season. After the last episode of a season, the card offers the season as a book to download.
What Tucktale does and doesn't do
- It keeps each series' memory across chats: characters, places, what happened and what comes next.
- It narrates every episode on its own server with an open text-to-speech model; no third-party voice service hears your stories.
- It never asks for your child's name, age, school or photo. Characters are toys, animals or invented friends.
- It refuses characters from books, films and shows, so every story (and every book) is your family's own.
- It has no subscriptions or ads.
Questions
Does Tucktale write the stories?
ChatGPT writes each episode from Tucktale's brief: the characters, a recap of every earlier episode, the facts so far, tonight's value, the length and the bedtime rules. Tucktale checks it, keeps it and narrates it.
Does it work in a new chat?
Yes. The series lives in Tucktale, not in one conversation, so any new chat can continue it: just ask for tonight's Tucktale episode.
What information does Tucktale keep?
The series settings and episodes, the narration audio and an anonymous ID from ChatGPT. Never your child's name, age or photo. Details are in the privacy policy.
Which languages?
The narration is in English. ChatGPT can talk to you in your language, but the episodes and audio are English for now.
Does it work with ChatGPT Voice?
Not reliably yet: Voice doesn't always call plugins. Type your request, or name the app when you speak: “Use Tucktale for tonight's episode.”
